MISSION.
Amazon River Keepers
Our mission is to help underprivilaged youth gain skills, education, and real world experience so they can participate in the local ecotourism industry and champion environmental stewardship.
How do we do it?
Through donations and volunteers, we provide job skills training (think local river rafting and kayaking training, english language skills, hospitality internships, etc) that allows the local community to participate in the region's ecotourism industry. Donations are used to purchase equipment, pay for trainers, and provide educational opportunities.
For long term sustainable ecotourism, a healthy environment is key. For this reason, our efforts include education and training which support river and forest conservation.
Our current focus is supporting the indigenous community around Archidona, Ecuador.
Why are we doing this?
We love Ecuador and its people. We love helping others and we love everything outdoors, especially rafting and kayaking. The indigenous communities in Ecuador need help and we feel this is a great way to encourage local people to get involved in their economy and have a positive impact on the environment.
